Research Assistant

  • Perioperative care of Older Patients undergoing Surgery (POPS) and Trauma in Older Persons Service (TOPS)
  • Support a high energy and innovative team at the Royal Melbourne Hospital
  • Based at our City Parkville campus 

The position

 

This is a casual position is a research assistant role supporting the evaluation of Perioperative care of Older Patients Service (POPS) and Trauma in Older Persons Service (TOPS). The position involves working with a multidisciplinary team. Main duties include administrative tasks, supporting data collection at clinics and follow-up phone call, data entry from the Electronic Medical Record (EPIC) and use of REDCap, data analysis, reporting and regularly meeting with the project team.

 

About you

  • Previous clinical research experience.
  • Experience in data analysis and report writing.
  • Interest in clinical dementia research.
  • Previous experience in aged care.
  • Work in your scope of practice and seek help where required.
  • Work in partnership with consumers, patients and where applicable carers and families.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across all RMH teams.
  • Continue to learn through mandatory training and other learning activities.
  • Seek feedback on your work including participation in annual performance discussion.
  • Ensure direct reports receive regular feedback and participate in annual discussions.
  • Data entry and administration duties related to day-to-day running of the project.
  • Preparation of ethics applications.
  • Liaising with clients and their families to support clinical data collection.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary clinical team.
  • Data analysis (QA) and report writing.
  • Demonstrated high level of organisational skills, manage time effectively and plan work to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills, for effective engagement with clients and their families in an aged care outpatient setting.
