Research Monitor

  • Opportunity for an experienced Research Monitor to join the Colorectal Medicine/Gastroenterology Research team
  • Part Time, Fixed Term position (12 months)
  • Located at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, City Campus

An exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Research Monitor to join our small, diverse research team which undertakes and coordinates both investigator initiated clinical trials and Sponsor led Pharmaceutical clinical trials.


Our Colorectal Medicine and Genetics team is led by Professor Finlay Macrae and primarily focuses on clinical care and research in the colorectal cancer (with projects in familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and hereditary non polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC), and Inflammatory Bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease). There is close interaction with other RMH departments/services, including Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, the Familial Cancer Centre and the Bowel Cancer Surveillance Service. Professor Macrae also offers an outpatient capsule endoscopy service.


Our Hepatology team is led by Dr Siddharth Sood with research mainly focusing on Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and fatty liver disease.


Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or hold a current Australian working visa.


Your new role:

  • Perform a quality review of all patient data and essential and investigator documents required for effective and compliant study site compliance.
  • Identify and document deviations, identify missing or incorrect data, work with the National CAPP3 Research Coordinator to rectify issues and clean data, draw up file notes and maintain site files.
  • Recall pathology reports, slides, and scope results.
  • Provide general in house administrative support and assistance to the Study Teams and management staff.

About you:

  • You have a University/College degree (science preferred), or certification in a related allied  health profession from an appropriate accredited institution (e.g. nursing certification, medical or laboratory technology), as well as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
  • You have a minimum of 1 years’ research experience with experience in preparing and submitting clinical trial documents.
  • You have excellent time management and attention to detail, and are able to rigorously adhere to relevant documentation standards.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with external research organisations, sites and stakeholders.
