About the service:
Our Medical Services at the Royal Melbourne Hospital are currently seeking highly motivated Registered Nurses to join our team. We offer a wide range of services including General Medicine, Acute medical Unit, Gastroenterology and Nephrology (including kidney transplant service and dialysis). Our Medical Services operates within the Royal Melbourne Hospital city campus and has various education opportunities available in addition to team nursing models and preceptorship.
What you'll need to succeed in any of our vacancies:
- You are an AHPRA registered Nurse with ward experience and are willing to work a range of AM/PM & ND shifts, within our supportive and dedicated multidisciplinary team
- You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development

Registered Nurse – Ward 5North – Gastroenterology and Orthopaedic Ward

5North are searching for a Registered Nurse to join a collaborative working environment well supported by highly skills Clinical Nurse Consultants, Clinical Nurse Educators, Medical staff, Pharmacists and Allied Health professionals.
5North is a 20-bed inpatient ward specialising in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Orthopaedic Medicine. Our patient cohort varies from conditions such as; Peptic ulcer disease, acute and chronic pancreatitis and gastrointestinal cancers, from an orthopaedic medicine perspective, patients predominantly present with fractured neck of femurs with or without associated secondary fracture.
To be successful for this role you will have:
- Acute medical or surgical experience in a hospital setting is required
Registered Nurse – Ward AMU – Acute Medical Unit

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a 32-bed unit that works cohesively with the ED team to ensure rapid assessment of potential patients, predict the length of stay, and facilitate admission of patients to AMU or to a long-term medical unit/ward.
The principle of streaming will achieve the concept of “Right Patient to Right Unit First Time Every Time” by the streamlining of acute General Medical patients into short-term stream and/or long-term streams.
AMU is a consultant-led medical, nursing and multidisciplinary team with comprehensive and varied skills that is dedicated to optimising care for their patients.
To be successful for this role you will have:
- Recent clinical experience in acute medical unit is desirable
Registered Nurse – Ward 9 East – Infectious Diseases, Rheumatology and Immunology Ward

9East is a dedicated Infectious Disease, Rheumatology and Immunology ward specialising in complex patient types. 9East has been at the frontline of caring for COVID-19 patients since the beginning of the pandemic whilst still managing patients presenting with conditions such as tuberculosis, measles, influenza, infective endocarditis and patients with multi-drug resistant organisms.
We have a purpose-built infectious disease ward with monitored negative pressure ventilation system rooms dedicated in providing optimal safety for patients with respiratory and other airborne infectious diseases. The patient types are varied in 9 East allowing your nursing skills to constantly develop in this ever changing environment.
To be successful for this role you will have:
- Acute and complex care in a hospital setting is required
Registered Nurse – Ward 5SE – General Medical Ward

5 South East is a 30-bed General Medicine unit, including a 2-bed specialised Delirium Management Care Unit providing care to patients with a range of medical conditions, including congestive cardiac failure, sepsis, pneumonia, metabolic disorders, eating disorders and acute exacerbations of chronic illnesses.
5 South East provides robust clinical support for new-starters, and a range of educational opportunities for staff of all levels of experience. We are seeking motivated nurses who thrive when working in a team. We work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and value nursing input into care provision and planning. Critical thinking and advocacy are strongly encouraged in every member of our team.
