Team Leader - Inpatient Unit

About your new team


Orygen Specialist Program (OSP) provides specialist mental health services, focusing on early intervention, for young people aged 15 to 25 with severe and complex mental illness.

 

Our Inpatient Unit (IPU) is located in Footscray on the Western Hospital site. The IPU includes a 16-bed low dependency area and a further three beds (ICA-East) for targeted specialised service delivery for youth with complex mental health and psychosocial needs.

 

Your new role:

  • Support the IPU NUM to provide high quality leadership and oversight of IPU operations
  • Collaborate with the IPU leadership to ensure delivery of high quality care, with a focus on clinical nursing standards and efficient use of resources
  • Support with consumer flow and bed management across the IPU
  • Review incidents, identify causal factors and develop recommendations to eliminate, mitigate or substitute potential risk issues with the unit

About you:

  • Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
  • Demonstrated experience as a clinical leader, particularly with managing multidisciplinary teams in an acute mental health setting
  • Comprehensive clinical expertise to initiate and lead evidence-based nursing practice in the care delivery to consumers with complex mental health needs
  • Demonstrated commitment to the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching consumers personal recovery goals
