Northern Area Mental Health Service believes in the effective delivery of high quality psychiatric services. We are a mixed gender facility with 9 units accommodating 20 beds with a dedicated multidisciplinary team helping to significantly improve the lives of residents.


We are seeking a motivated, innovative individual with significant experience caring for individuals living with mental illness, to help provide care and inspire others to reach their potential at our facility.

A Job To Be Proud Of:

  • Assume responsibility for the delivery of patient care and the unit management activities
  • Delegate, coordinate and supervise staff rostered for each shift on the basis of workload prioritisation and staff level of experience
  • Provide high quality standards of patient care. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to the development of all staff including new and casual staff to the area
  • Act as a principal clinical resource for staff on a shift to shift basis

Your Contribution:

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Proven ability and experience in assessment and treatment of clients with severe mental illness and psychiatric disability and associated co-morbidities
  • Experience and well developed skills in the range of nursing interventions including work with individuals, families and groups, consultation and liaison
  • Demonstrated initiative and organisational skills within multidisciplinary service delivery systems
  • Extensive experience working in the clinical field of mental health- primarily in a community rehabilitation setting.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

You will be highly experienced in managing people from a variety of disciplines, have an understanding of organisational needs, and be up-to-date with current best practice to foster continual improvement.
