The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Speech Pathology team. This is a Full Time position, working 80 hours per fortnight.  This position will work across a range of clinical areas of the Royal Melbourne Hospital in the community, sub-acute and the acute setting as part of the grade one rotational program.


Your Opportunity:

This Grade 1 position is required to provide quality care to clients through competent clinical skills, effective communication, and active participation within a multidisciplinary team environment. Specifically the Grade 1 Speech Pathologist through their developing clinical expertise will have a role in ensuring excellence in client care, dissemination of information to staff and clinical teams contribute to the internal professional development program and participate in program development. You will work with key stakeholders to develop innovative models of care for a variety of patients and maximise the role of speech pathology within their clinical service area of care as directed by the Speech Pathology & Audiology Manager Allied Health and Senior Clinicians.


About You:

  • Qualifications which are acceptable for membership to the Speech Pathology Australia
  • Experience working in the acute, sub-acute or community setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and in co-operation with others
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to Departmental Quality Projects or Service Development
  • Clinical skills in comprehensive assessment, management and discharge planning
  • Professional behaviour and conduct which reflects self-initiative, confidentiality, self-evaluation and commitment to professional development
  • Previous experience in a related field and good working knowledge of community support services
  • Skills in Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Commitment to continued professional development
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload, and effectively prioritise tasks
