Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) have commenced the Connecting Care program to implement a shared Electronic Medical Record (EMR).  The Connecting Care program will see the expansion of the successful Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Epic EMR to operate across the four health services.


The Opportunity:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic communications professional who is able to lead and negotiate the needs of multiple stakeholders in delivering a shared program of work. As the Communications Lead, you will develop and manage the Communications strategy and activities for the Connecting Care program. Working with the Communications teams at each Health Service you will:

  • Collaboratively develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that meets the needs of the wide range of stakeholders within each organisation
  • Provide innovative and creative ways to engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop content and manage consistent communications across a range of channels, including local intranets, social media, website, e-newsletter and others identified in the communications strategy.
  • Provide expert communications guidance, tools, training and advice to the Connecting Care Program Team and key leaders within each organisation

Essential requirements for the role:

This is a senior position. The successful applicant will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Communications, Public relations or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated senior-level experience in a communications role, ideally in a healthcare or large organisational change project
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience in managing complex work environments and conflicting stakeholder interests
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple parties and to work in team environments;
  • Healthcare experience in acute care settings preferred.
