  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Sonographer to join our dynamic team

Your new team

 

The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne is in a growth phase with additional beds opening and a new Cath Lab forecast within the next 12 months. The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Parkville precinct and is co-located with the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. The Parkville precinct has moved to an electronic medical record in the last 12 months.

 

The Echo department has 2 Echo educators and use the latest Philips and GE Echo machines. There are regular education meetings during hours and a diverse range of pathology including adult congenital heart disease. We have a full time Echo inpatient co-ordinator nurse to help with inpatient workflow and to assist with bubble studies/contrast injections.  

 

Specialty services at RMH include Adult Congenital Heart Disease, complex Electrophysiology, and structural cardiac intervention (TAVI, Percutaneous Pulmonary Valves, Mitral Clip)

 

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • To perform transthoracic echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients
  • Assist with supervision and training of junior staff in transthoracic echocardiograms
  • Participate in after-hours Echo oncall roster.
  • Provide training and clinical supervision to other staff

Your Contribution

  • Undergraduate Science degree
  • 2+yrs of experience in Cardiology and Echo
  • Current registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
  • Proven record in teaching and leadership with the ability to impart knowledge to staff at all levels  and across services, as well as members of the wider community
