The Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) provides a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Darebin and Whittlesea. About the Role:

  • Manage all incoming cases with a polite, friendly and informative approach.
  • Undertake initial assessments over the telephone and face to face assessments when required.
  • Provide referrers with a helpful, proactive and solution focused approach, feedback on outcomes, and understanding the needs and preferences of the person and their carer/family.
  • Prioritise referrals and communicate effectively to ensure requests for service are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Effectively delegate tasks during peak periods.

About You:

  • Extensive experience, (5 years post grad experience for Nursing/OT and 7 years for SW), in the provision of specialist services, ideally in, public mental health settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills allowing for effective coordination of new cases.
  • Ability to present a welcoming, calm and helpful approach at all times
  • Extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and psychiatric disability, inclusive of the impact of mental illness on dependent children and family/carers.
  • Capacity to undertake alcohol and other drug screening, assessment, treatment planning, brief interventions with clients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
