NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH) provides a comprehensive, integrated range of services to people with a serious mental illness in North-Western Melbourne. A multi-disciplinary workforce of 1,800 staff provides services through four Area Adult Mental Health Services (North West, Mid West, Inner West and Northern), an Aged Persons’ Mental Health Program and a Youth Mental Health Service – ORYGEN Youth Health. NWMH is a clinical service of Melbourne Health and operates in partnership with Northern Health and Western Health.

A Job to Be Proud Of:

  • The Team Leader provides high level clinical expertise within BIPU and its components with respect to the assessment and treatment of consumers with complex mental health related needs and their family/carers, and supports other clinicians in the delivery of high quality mental health care. 
  • You will be required to participate in the provision of supervision and supporting staff safety and wellbeing.
  • The role also incorporates supporting the ANUM's in co-ordination of bed access and management, staffing resources, and multidisciplinary services on the ward.
  • The Team Leader participates in clinical service development activities within the Team, encourages and support quality initiatives and research.

Your Contribution:

  • Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent or Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Minimum of four years post-graduate experience
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of the interdisciplinary health care team
  • Well-developed knowledge of Legislation pertinent to the provision of mental health services and in particular the Mental Health Act (2014) and Amendments and of policies and strategic directions of Public Mental Health Service.
  • Demonstrated provision of high quality patient care
  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • High motivation and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
