Clinical Specialist

Orygen Youth Health Community Development Program

Part Time


The Clinical Specialist in the Community Development program provides programs within the OYH catchment area aimed at raising awareness about the issue of youth mental health, building the capacity of the general public and community services to better support the needs of young people with mental health issues, and developing integrated and sustainable services systems within the local catchment which support the needs of young people with mental health issues.

This involves development of key initiatives and activities within the local catchment area including:

  • Developing relationships & partnerships with key stakeholders such as local headspace sites, AOD services, accommodation and other community agencies across the OYH catchment area.
  • Developing a joint Community Development Plan with key stakeholders – headspace and RCH MHP - to strategically prioritise the work of the Community Development team.
  • Facilitating service development and capacity building across a range of community services for young people.
  • Developing implementing and evaluating a range of strategies to meet the goals of service development and capacity building: eg. secondary consultation, training and education.
  • To develop effective interfaces with the clinical programs of OYH to enhance liaison, collaborations and partnerships with key stakeholders and community services.
  • Undertaking a range of strategies with the purpose of raising awareness about the issue of youth mental health amongst young people, general public, community workers and professional groups.
  • Working to improve the mental health literacy of the general public with the aim of de-stigmatising youth mental disorders and improving the capacity of the general public to respond to youth mental health issues.
  • Working collaboratively with the Design and Digital Media team and the clinical program to ensure the appropriate development of resources (both print and electronic), publications, newsletters, brochures, etc. targeted at the local catchment.

Purpose of Position:

To implement the work of the Community Development team in raising awareness and building capacity in the community for enhancing outcomes for young people with mental health disorders.

 

Essential Requirements for the Role:

Approved tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, eligibility for membership of the appropriate professional body and eligibility to work in Australia are essential.
