Clinical Nurse Educator

  • Help build the future and be part of the team that welcomes students to the facility
  • Provide psycho-education and support to family/carers
  • Part time 64 hours per fortnight
  • Based at St Albans Community Care Unit

The Team at Mid-West Area Mental Health Service (MWAMHS) comprises of a 10 unit complex accommodating 20 beds, with 24 hour nursing care support. It provides recovery-focused rehabilitation in a community residential setting, to consumers who typically have multiple and complex needs. Our services aim to increase an individual’s psychosocial independence through a variety of person-centred programs to develop daily living skills.

 

The CNE will be primarily responsible for the effective facilitation and provision of in-service education, coordination of the local undergraduate, graduate and post graduate program and continuing education programs, for all nurses at the unit level.

 

Your new role

  • Build the capability of nursing workforce at CCU and support them in their educational pathway
  • Participate in and support any service improvement initiatives including service improvement projects, clinical audits and incident reviews
  • Work with data to improve and reduce clinical risk for residents with improved education for staff
  • Ensure compliance of clinical governance, legislative and documentation requirements, (e.g. clinical audits, clinical review, completion of relevant documentation compliant with requirement of the Mental Health Act 2014)

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Record Check and a Working with Children Check. Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of an immunisation assessment prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria Essential: Registration as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, or equivalent, including Hospital or Board-approved qualifications.
Essential: Substantial clinical experience (at least five years) in a range of Mental Health settings (e.g. aged persons mental health, acute psychiatric units, community)
Essential: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues, and other service providers
Essential: Experience having and in delivering Supervision, Preceptorship and Mentorship.
