The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Outpatients team. There are Full Time and Part Time positions available, both ongoing and fixed-term, based at Royal Melbourne Hospital - City Campus.


Your Opportunity:

  • Provide great customer service as per the organisational values to provide an excellent patient experience and meet the requirements of each clinic area
  • Set up and maintenance of the supplies required for the safe and timely running of the clinics and the clinic environments
  • Preparation of the paperwork and histories required to provide the right care to the patient at the right time
  • Reception work for the clinic to ensure that the needs of each patient are met on arrival and for follow up appointments at completion of visit, including Medicare billing requirements and other organisational funding requirements
  • Appropriate use and knowledge of the hospital systems used in the outpatient environment
  • Preceptorship to new and casual clerical staff
  • Ability to take direction in clinic activities from the ANUM/RN/EN in clinic
  • May be required to work across all clinic areas to assist with business continuity of the outpatient department
  • Other clerical and administrative duties as required by the ANUM

About You:


Essential:

  • Demonstrated provision of highly developed customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent vernal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including accurate keyboard skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Professional presentation and demeanour
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritise and problem solve
  • Able to work in a busy environment and under pressure at times
  • High motivation, can do attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work within a multicultural environment

Desirable:

  • TAFE accredited clerical training certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Outlook
  • Previous experience with Patient administrative and bookings system
  • Relevant clerical experience and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
