Geriatric and Evaluation Management Unit

Full Time position - 80hrs/fortnight
Gardenview is a 25 bed Geriatric and Evaluation Management Unit (GEM) made up of two wings. Wing 1 is GEM and Wing 2 is secure GEM (Dementia specific). We aim to maximise the functional independence for older person. It is a type of slow rehabilitation and also provides dementia management, assessment and strategies for those with Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD).
We are seeking Registered Nurse who have a passion for working with older persons.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Experience in Gerontology and/or medical nursing is desirable but not essential .
- Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic and organised approach to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated provision of high quality patient centred care
- Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills
- High level of reliability and professional conduct within the Melbourne Health values
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development towards the nursing profession.
The successful applicant will work in a supportive multidisciplinary team environment. Patient Centred care is practiced within the unit. As part of the team you will be committed to the values of Melbourne Health. A variety of shifts are available and applicants must be willing to work a rotating roster including weekend.
