We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Speech Pathology team. This is a Part Time Fixed Term position, working 32 hours per fortnight, based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital City Campus.

Your Opportunity:
The Grade 4 Speech Pathologist, through their clinical expertise within the division of Surgery, will have a leading role in the delivery of an excellent Speech Pathology clinical service across the continuum of care. The Grade 4 Speech Pathologist will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care, providing high level clinical advice and fostering staff development.


The Grade 4 Speech Pathologist will have an extensive understanding of wider organisational and public health influences on the acute and subacute public hospital service and lead ongoing service improvement and development.  They will lead a culture of research within Speech Pathology and across Allied Health and actively seek opportunities for funding of new research and projects.


They will provide direct clinical supervision to the Senior Clinician staff and assist with supervision of other junior staff as required.

 

About You:

  • Qualified Speech Pathologist with a relevant post graduate degree (minimum Masters, PhD desirable)
  • Eligible for Speech pathology Australia Membership
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant clinical and leadership experience (specific to profession, as per award).  Acknowledged by professional peers as a clinical expert and/or has a broad and relevant clinical experience in the area of the division of surgery
  • Tracheostomy and videofluoroscopic swallow study competency
  • Demonstrated ability to provide expert clinical service and supervision
  • Demonstrated staff management skills that will foster a learning environment 
  • Delivery of expert and authoritative advice
  • Demonstrated ability to use and model evidence based practice
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • High level of negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level of planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent supervisory and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team
  • Innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office suite of programs, Word, Excel and Access
  • Demonstrated skills in operation and management of endoscopy equipment
