The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.


We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our research team. This is a Full Time position, working 80 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of Part Time (e.g. 4 days per week) open to negotiation. The position will be based at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Viral Hepatitis at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, Melbourne.


The Opportunity:

  • Contribute to enhanced prevention of liver cancer in primary care
  • Engage with a variety of stakeholders, participants, experts and community members to effectively conduct collaborative work
  • Ensure the successful completion of a large interventional research project which will establish how to prevent viral hepatitis associated liver cancer in primary care settings
  • Support clinicians to effectively deliver care to Victorians living with chronic viral hepatitis
  • Establish and support a collaborative network of investigators, community members, and expert advisors
  • Optimise communication of research findings to scientific and general audiences and help ensure translation of evidence into programs and clinical interventions

About You: 

  • Highly effective time-management and organisational skills with experience in project management 
  • Experience in one or more of public health/epidemiology, viral hepatitis/liver cancer, or clinical research (especially in primary care settings) 
  • Experience in research dissemination and communication with both scientific and general audiences 
  • Experience in focus group and advisory group coordination 
  • Familiarity with ethics approval and governance processes 
  • Understanding of epidemiological and analytical concepts 
  • Experience in research project design, development and implementation
