Clinical Research Nurse


The Victorian Infectious Diseases Service (VIDS) provides inpatient and outpatient services. It has a strong history of research in infectious diseases and clinical trials. Currently there exists a part time position for an experienced Research Nurse to assist in the running of clinical trials.

 

The position will be available at a fraction of 0.4 full-time-equivalent and is for one year in the first instance. Further renewal is subject to availability of funding. Remuneration will be in accordance with Research Nurse award Grade 3A.

 

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Research Nurse is to coordinate and facilitate various clinical trials in infectious diseases. The Research Nurse will perform patient assessment, recruitment, sample and data collection and management, will liaise with clinical trial sponsors to ensure trial success and assist in ethics and research governance submissions. Other duties will be as directed.

 

Selection criteria:

Essential:
- Division 1 registered nurse with a current Victorian practising certificate.     -Experience in infectious diseases clinical research, tissue/blood sample collections and processing, and clinical data collections.  -Demonstrated excellence in infectious diseases patient management, organisation and communication.-A thorough understanding of issues concerning patient confidentiality in infectious diseases.-Experience in human research ethics and research governance submissions.


Desirable:


- Experience in dealing with sponsoring pharmaceutical companies.
- Experience in liaising with other disciplines and departments in the establishment and maintenance of clinical trials.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team, while working independently.
- Ability to travel to attend interstate and international meetings.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License.
