We are inviting trainee surgeons who are towards the end of their training in Cardiothoracic Surgery to apply to join Royal Melbourne Hospital from February 2019.

 

About you:

  • Excellent knowledge of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Cardiology, in addition to good overall knowledge of medicine in Surgery.
  • Experienced in and independently able to perform: – Conduit harvest – right and left internal thoracic arteries, radial artery. Instituting Cardio Pulmonary Bypass (and discontinuation) both centrally and peripherally.Intra Aortic Balloon Pump insertion.
  • Able to independently perform – straight forward Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery, aortic valve replacement, mitral valve replacement.
  • Experience in patient care including preoperative assessment, intra-operative / operating room, intensive care unit, high dependency unit, ward, postoperative review and follow up.
  • Experience in the conduct of audit, and of clinical trials.
  • Substantial experience in clinical research, and a track record of appropriate publications and presentations at professional meetings.
