In 2016, 4 advanced trainees will be appointed to assist 15 Nephrologists, and 6 BPTs/HMOs in providing tertiary care to the unit’s in-patients, day- and out-patients. Trainees currently rotate through Transplantation, General Nephrology, Ambulatory Care Nephrology and Dialysis, based mainly at RMH.city campus. Training is provided in all areas of Nephrology including renal biopsy. The Unit is broad-based in its clinical service provision, being active in renal transplantation, all major modalities of dialysis, teaching and clinical research, as well as providing a consultative service within the RMH. Research activity embraces many areas, including mechanisms of renal fibrosis, transplant immunosuppression, SLE, polycystic disease, Fabry disease, extended-hours dialysis and cardiovascular complications of renal failure.
Trainees are encouraged to pursue an active personalized CME program, including active participation in a major national meeting in Nephrology (either TSANZ or ANZSN). Rosters are structured to provide for training time.
Training programs specific to individual career aspirations may be discussed at interview.
We seek candidates with strong academic track record, demonstrated clinical commitment and perspective, strong interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm to acquire both formal knowledge and practical skills.
FRACP (Part 1) is essential.
