Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 will be required to provide quality standards of care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

  • Contribute your expertise in clinical meetings, ensuring clinical standards of care are met
  • Provide mental health assessments and treatment to consumers and their carers
  • Contribute clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team of CCU
  • Provide overall co-ordination of care and deliver care as required on a shift-to–shift basis
  • Provide clinical supervision of placement students and junior staff within their discipline specific team
  • Manage clinical risk and actively work toward implementing risk reduction strategies
  • Promote a friendly, respectful and supportive environment within the organisation
  • Participate in annual performance appraisal, peer review and other relevant forums

Your Contribution: 

  • Experience in Mental Health Nursing and at least 2 years’ experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills plus the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Commitment to ongoing professional self-development
  • Well-developed skills in writing and an ability to promptly prepare case assessments, individual service plans, discharge summaries and other forms of documentation

Selection Criteria Essential: Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or, Bachelor Degree in Nursing plus a Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing recognised by the Nurses Board of Victoria.
Essential: Registered Nurse with AHPRA
Essential: Clinical expertise in mental state assessment and risk assessment
