  • Full Time, working 80 hours including ADO

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. You will manage the orthopaedic elective waitlist, liaising with various departments and individuals to deliver safe, timely and person centred care to our patients. As the surgical liaison nurse you will manage and maximise the units elective operating resources, while allowing for capacity to accommodate the orthopaedic trauma and inpatient demands.


Your Opportunity:

  • Effective and transparent management of the Elective Surgery waiting list with adherence Elective Access Surgery Policy
  • Management of all aspects of the preadmission process for elective surgery
  • Facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to admissions and discharges
  • Deliver safe, timely and patient centred care

About You:

  • Grade 2 Registered Nurse in clinical management role with greater than 5 years’ experience
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary health care team
  • Demonstrated provision of high quality patient care
  • Advanced assessment, problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • High motivation and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
  • Extensive knowledge and clinical experience


  • iPM experience
  • Understanding of public funding models
