We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Endocrinology Laboratory team. This is a Part Time, Fixed Term position, working 32 hours per fortnight, based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, city campus.

 

Your Opportunity:

 

The Endocrine Laboratory, Department of Pathology at RMH is providing a number of laboratory tests for the large scale screening studies in type 1 diabetes.  The Research Assistant will be required to:

  • Receive, receipt and process samples
  • Perform Tri-Screen and other laboratory assays, including ELISA and In-house RIA
  • Perform T cell stimulation studies
  •  Assure quality control of the relevant laboratory assays

About You:

  • Highly experienced in laboratory methodology, in particular RIA and T cell studies
  • Preferred experience working in a NATA accredited lab as well as GLP
  • Proficient in the use of database and spreadsheet software applications
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility, patience and tolerance
  • The ability to function efficiently, accurately and calmly under pressure
  • The ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • The ability to manage difficult relationships in a calm and objective manner
