  • Part Time, Ongoing position working 48 hours per fortnight
  • Based at Broadmeadows Inpatient Psychiatric Unit

North West Area Mental Health Service (NWAMHS) provides a range of psychiatric services to adults aged between 16-65 who reside in the local government areas of Moreland and Hume in the north-west of Melbourne. We are part of North Western Mental Health (NWMH), which has a multi-disciplinary workforce of 1,800 staff. NWMH is the mental health treatment service of Melbourne Health.

 

A Job To Be Proud Of:

  • The Senior Psychologist will lead the development and implementation of psychotherapeutic activities within the multidisciplinary Broadmeadows Inpatient Unit team.
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and where appropriate, brief interventions to inpatient consumers.
  • Play a significant role in encouraging BIPU staff to deploy psychotherapeutic frameworks in their dealings with consumers.
  • Refinement and ongoing development of inpatient psychotherapeutic treatment, consultation to the clinical team, and liaison and consultation to other agencies and service providers where appropriate.
  • Training of inpatient staff and demonstration and encouragement of psychotherapeutic approaches.
  • Provide guidance on outpatient treatment for patients discharged from BIPU for community clinicians inside and outside of NWAMHS
  • Work collaboratively with families and carers

Your Contribution: 

  • Registration as a Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) 
  • Endorsement as a clinical psychologist or eligibility to enter a registrar program as a clinical psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia 
  • Endorsement as a supervisor for clinical psychology registrars and other psychologists with the Psychology Board of Australia  
  • Experience in the delivery of a range of specialist psychotherapeutic interventions to people with severe psychiatric illnesses and their families
  • Ability to provide focused and brief psychological interventions to
