John Cade Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, provides specialised mental health care to consumers in a dynamic environment that strives to, at all times, maintain a focus on recovery and patient centred care. Our unit has a strong commitment to innovative practice around trauma informed care and reduction in restrictive interventions.

John Cade Unit Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit offers post registration experience as well as the clinical, further educational and on-going training support to enable the Registered Nurse (RPN / RN) to further develop their clinical skills for work in an acute mental health in-patient unit.

 

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Deliver holistic, recovery focussed care to consumers, carers, and families providing evidenced based practise in a trauma informed, least restrictive way.
  • Collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary team, including clinical handover, advocacy for consumers, attending ward round as a nursing representative, and driving high standards of care.
  • Completion of admissions and discharges as per ward processes.
  • Carry out other duties as directed in accordance with industrial classification standards
  • Practice in senior nursing roles on the unit as required.
  • Commitment to embedding Safewards model of care into everyday practice.

Your Contribution

  • Motivated to contribute to the quality functioning of a busy acute inpatient ward, providing innovative practise that achieve positive outcome for consumer experiencing acute mental health concerns.
