The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

 

This grade 2 position will support clinical care at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. The successful applicant will be committed to an interdisciplinary approach and have a well-developed understanding of health and occupational performance issues for clients in their area of clinical specialty. Supported by a multidisciplinary team, this role is responsible for the delivery of efficient and evidence based occupational therapy interventions. Continuing professional development opportunities are offered within both the multidisciplinary neurosciences team and the broader occupational therapy department. This role is supported by the wider OT team, clinical leaders, research leader, OT Manager and OT Workforce Development Manager.

 

The portfolio and supervision structures within the occupational therapy department will also provide opportunities for the successful applicant to participate in clinical governance activities, including quality and research projects.



Your Opportunity:

  • An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and friendly team.
  • Undertake assessment, intervention and discharge planning for patients
  • Supervision and education of junior occupational therapists
  • Ensure excellence in patient management
  • Provide evidenced based assessment and management of a wide variety of patients
  • Contribute to providing high quality patient information
  • Build relationships with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services and information
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Practice person centred care and contribute to decision making with patients and carers
  • Participate in the staff clinical supervision programme

 

About You:

  • Recognised degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Professional registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia  
  • Competent level of patient assessment, treatment and management in acute care settings
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication
  • Emergency and safe working practices in the hospital
  • Time management and prioritization skills
