Your Opportunity:

The Biomedical Equipment Officer (Operating Suite) will be an effective team member responsible for helping to maintain and organise a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff within Perioperative Services.

 

The Biomedical Equipment Officer (Operating Suite) will ensure the safe operation and performance of medical equipment in close collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering Department.

 

This is an on the floor role and the selected candidate must be available throughout the day to answer equipment queries as required and must be able to:

  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of Perioperative Services equipment
  • Demonstrate equipment understanding, with a proficient level of competence in troubleshooting frontline equipment issues and problems encountered within the Perioperative Services Department.
  • Assist in the maintainance of contracts associated with the service and maintenance of equipment
  • Manage the requirements to purchase new items including the development of business cases when required

This role oversees all of Perioperative Services, not just the Main Operating Suite. The Biomedical Equipment Officer Operating Suite will also provide support in areas such as procurement, equipment trials and be a key liaison between Procurement, supply, Biomedical Engineering and Perioperative Services.

 

About You:

  • Minimum of 12 months experience with frontline troubleshooting of Biomedical Equipment within Perioperative Services environment
  • Demonstrate an ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate a high level of self-direction and motivation
  • Demonstrate high-level communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate high-level negotiation skills
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of competence in the techinical operation, maintenance, performance, evaluation and day-to-day usage of Biomedical equipment used within Perioperative Services
  • Motivation and interest to participate in the development of new technology and acquire new knowledge
  • Be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change
  • Have sound organisational skills
  • Willingness to participate in on the job training and/or specific skills training as required
  • A tertiary level qualification in the field of Biomedical Engineering or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory
