The Aged Persons’ Mental Health Program provides information, support and specialist mental health services to older people aged 65+ years. The APMH service is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence based (EB) treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills.

  • Display an interest in working in aged psychiatry
  • Provide expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders in both inpatient and community settings
  • Develop and evaluate specific team programs, initiatives or research projects
  • Carry out inclusive psychology assessments and formulate diagnosis based on assessment results
  • Advise on the most appropriate psychological interventions or strategies for managing psychiatric / psychological problems identified on assessment
  • Provide appropriate formal reports to referrer and relevant external bodies

Your Contribution

  • Demonstrated experience in providing psychological and psychosocial assessments and interventions, individual and family counselling, group work, advocacy and community development and education
  • Well-developed and effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with a  range of stakeholder sand service providers
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A valid Victorian driver’s license and a willingness to travel between multiple sites.
