  • Part Time - 56hrs - Fixed Term until 30/06/19 and potential for ongoing position

The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.


We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join the Parkville Integrated Palliative Care Service, based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. This is a Part Time, Permanent position, working 56 hours per fortnight.

 

Your Opportunity: 

  • You will work in the RAPID Assist – a rapid response outreach service from the hospital to home for patients and their families, to provide rapid palliative care expertise in symptom management, clinical assessment, decision making including advanced care planning, and assisting with coordination with care. 
  • You will work to enhance patient satisfaction with care, reduction in unplanned hospitalisations, and good clinical outcomes for palliative care patients.

  • You will work in collaboration with community providers, and enhance the coordinated care of patients across care settings.

  • You will be working in conjunction with the Parkville Integrated Palliative Care team, community palliative care services, other community based service – Inreach teams, Hospital in the home, Residential aged care facilities and General practitioners.
  • You will be involved with research, quality improvement activities, education and committees that seek to improve care, within the service, across the hospital. 

About You: 

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Recent and relevant clinical experience in palliative care nursing, across the domains of consultation, community and inpatient care is essential
  • High level communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrates ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change
  • Advanced assessment, problem solving, critical thinking and organisational skills
  • Post-graduate qualification in palliative care or closely related field would be desirable
  • Must have current drivers licence
