The Connecting Care Program and Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 

The Connecting Care EMR Program is a digital partnership between Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) to transform patient care and research in the Parkville precinct.

 

Connecting Care will expand the cutting-edge RCH Epic EMR to operate across the four health services, creating one powerful shared clinical and research system and setting a new benchmark for EMR technology in Australia.

 

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our EMR team. This is a Full Time Fixed Term position, working 80 hours per fortnight, based at Parkville.

 

Your Opportunity:

This is an opportunity for a hands-on, active and highly experienced Project Manager to plan, co-ordinate and manage the communication and fulfilment of network connectivity requirements for the Parkville Connecting Care Program. 

As the Connecting Care EMR Project Manager – Network Connectivity you will be responsible for identifying, collating and co-ordinating network connectivity and firewall rule requests from the integration, device integration, and point of care devices teams within the Connecting Care Program to enable integration to third party systems and devices and access to the EMR across four health services.  You will be required to communicate requests for connectivity and firewall rules to the network teams of the four health services, track their progress in fulfilling these requests and then communicate progress and completion of those requests to the initiating Connecting Care Program requestors. 

Working under the direction of the Technical Manager of the Connecting Care Program, you will;

  • Identify the systems and devices requiring connectivity to the EMR
  • Identify and collate the IP addressing and firewall rules required by Connecting Care teams
  • Collate the IP addressing and firewall rules required by third party vendors responsible for the establishment of the EMR server infrastructure
  • Establish and agree the format of network and firewall rule requests with the four health services
  • Plan and schedule network connectivity requests to align with Connecting Care Program timelines
  • Prepare requests for the required connectivity in agreed formats and submit those to the appropriate  health service or services
  • Monitor and manage the progress of the fulfilment of network and firewall rule requests submitted
  • Communicate and report progress of the fulfilment of network and firewall rules to Connecting Care team requestors and management
  • Document issues and risks associated with network connectivity in the context of the Connecting Care Program
  • Manage and co-ordinate actions to address and resolve network connectivity issues and risks with health service network engineers, IT management and third party vendors
  • Participate in IT infrastructure and network design activities that may be run by health services or vendors and engage and involve Connecting Care Program team members as necessary to ensure that EMR considerations are taken into account.
  • Ensure delivery of key network connectivity requirements in line with Connecting Care Program schedules

About You:

 

This is a leadership position and the successful applicant is likely to have some years of experience in an IT Project Management or IT Management role including; 

  • Tertiary degree and/or professional qualification in Management, Program/Project Management, Information Technology Management or related fields is desirable;
  • Management of a large-scale deployment of technology and hardware, including networks, in a project environment is desirable;
  • Project Management certification such as Prince 2 or PMP is desirable;
  • Experience working in health IT projects or managing and deploying networks for an EMR project is desirable.
