There are both Full-time or Part-time roles available, up to 80 hours per fortnight, based at Sunshine Hospital.


We are seeking caring, motivated, and creative Registered Psychiatric Nurses (Grade 2) with Mental Health qualification to join our dynamic and consumer centred acute mental health team.

Our team was awarded the Highly Commended Team Excellence Award for Melbourne Health in 2015 & 2016 due to team achievements including nursing research (now published) into Methamphetamine use.

 

We highly value creative staff, and provide support for staff to be involved in areas of interest.  We have a robust sensory modulation program with sensory spaces and resources. We have recently commenced a Peer Support Program, and have 7 peer support workers who greatly enhance the consumer and carer experience.  The service includes a state of the art Intensive Care Area designed to enhance therapeutic approaches with consumers.

 

Your typical day will include:

  • Engaging with consumers to provide individualised therapuetic interventions and information, to support consumers awareness of options about care and recovery.
  • Providing assessment and planning to meet the needs of consumers and their family/carers.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to share of knowledge of individuals needs and challenges, to support a team approach to care and planning. 
  • Promoting and contributing to the activity and participation program by co-facilitating activities with consumers which support their recovery.

Essential Criteria:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent,
  • or a Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing.
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Currently eligibility to work in Australia Eg Australian Birth Certificate or passport with working visa, permanent residency.

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you currently eligible to work in Australia? Eg Australian Birth Certificate or passport with working visa, permanent residency?
Essential: Do you hold a Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or a Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent plus an approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing?
Essential: Are you registered as a Registered Nurse Division 1 with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and are you able to provide a certified copy of your current Nurses Registration?
Desirable: Do you hold a current unrestricted drivers licence?
Desirable: Do you have experience in the setting of acute inpatient mental health?
