The Connecting Care Program and Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 

The Connecting Care EMR Program is a digital partnership between Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) to transform patient care and research in the Parkville precinct.

 

Connecting Care will expand the cutting-edge RCH Epic EMR to operate across the four health services, creating one powerful shared clinical and research system and setting a new benchmark for EMR technology in Australia.

 

The Opportunity:

As a member of the integration and data migration team, you will be responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of the data integration activities between EMR and non-EMR systems. This role is primarily responsible for the management and development of the integration systems from both source and to destination systems. Analysis of the source and destination systems and a view from a compliance perspective is pivotal to this position. You will ensure that rigorous documentation is created and maintained throughout the implementation of the EMR.

 

This is a highly dynamic team working on an exciting and innovative project, you will need to enjoy problem solving and troubleshooting with a like-minded team implementing an EMR within an agile development framework. You will need to have strong HL7 experience and understanding how multiple health services will work together in utilising a single EMR.

 

You will report directly to the Connecting Care EMR Integration and Data Conversion Manager and will work closely with the Integration Architect, business users and other members of the integration and data migration team to ensure that all integration activities of the EMR project are understood, planned, communicated and executed on time. 

 

Requirements for the role:

These positions would suit candidates with skills and experience within the following professions:

  • Analyst/Developer/Programmers
  • Business Intelligence/Reporting
  • System Administrator
  • Recent undergraduates in the above field

The successful applicant will have:

  • HL7 experience
  • Fundamentals of FHIR (highly regarded)
  • Experience in interface design and development
  • Experience working with Healthcare applications
  • Experience working in project deployments
  • Rhapsody, EMR and SQL experience (Desirable)
  • Experience in migrating Java code from Java CAPS to Rhapsody (Desirable)
  • A tertiary degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
