The Department of Anaesthesia & Pain Management sees 18,000 adult patients per year. The service provides a 24-hour perioperative service encompassing pre-anaesthesia assessment, intraoperative anaesthesia and physiologic monitoring, anaesthesia for areas outside of the operating suite and pain services. The service specialises in trauma medicine, neuro-anaesthesia, cardiac anaesthesia, trans-oesophageal echocardiology, malignant hyperthermia testing and anaesthesia allergy testing. The Department is also committed to academic pursuits of clinical and laboratory research, training, and continuing education, to ensure that our knowledge, skills and abilities meet the requirements of our stakeholders in an environment of continuous change.
About the Role:
- Perform a key role in supporting and assisting with the organisational of the Malignant Hyperthermia Diagnostic Unit (MHDU) - specifically updating the Progeny database, electronic filing and directing emails and calls to appropriate staff.
- Provide confidential secretarial, clerical and administrative support to the Staff of the Malignant Hyperthermia Diagnostic Unit.
- Assist in dissemination of information to potential patients and patient results in both genetics and in-vitro contracture testing.

- Professional presentation, reception and customer service skills
- Demonstrated relevant secretarial/administrative experience and ability to work in a confidential area
- Well-developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal and arithmetic skills
- Demonstrated organisational skills, initiative and attention to detail
- Ability to liaise with staff and business contacts at all levels
- Ability to prioritise, work within timeframes and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated technical skills in utilisation of software packages, particularly Microsoft Office, scanning and electronic filing.
