About Us:

The Northern Area Mental Health Service (NAMHS) provides a comprehensive range of specialist mental health services to people who reside in the local government areas of Darebin and Whittlesea.  About The Role:

  • Deliver Sessions aimed at Brief Family Crisis Intervention and Assessment and Future Planning
  • Debrief and explore the impact of the crisis on the family as a whole
  • Reduce stress from within the family unit by increasing understanding, developing empathy and the re-enforcing of relational bonds
  • Introduce to relevant information about mental illness, psychiatric crisis, their impact on relationships, information about service systems
  • Act as a conduit to Family Consultation Sessions if consumer commences or remains in receipt of NAMHS treatment and care

About You:

  • Experienced in the provision of brief family interventions where the identified consumer has an identified mental illness
  • Ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers and other service providers
  • Extensive involvement in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Accurately prepare the appropriate documentation assessments, treatment plans, transition summaries and other forms of documentation
  • Dedicated to working with people and their families during some of the most stressful periods of their lives to make a real and positive difference
