 Applications are sought from experienced Mental Health nurses with established acute inpatient nursing skills, to provide education and leadership for nurses and the multidisciplinary team in the Aged Inpatient Unit.

  • Role model behaviour and clinical practices to the nursing workforce
  • Audit, observe and participate in the evaluation of all clinical care
  • Provide education, nursing guidance and resources to the workforce
  • Promote the achievement of a high standard of practice and best practice philosophy resulting in optimal patient outcomes
  • Promote the delivery of evidence based nursing care
  • Be an integral part of the leadership steam of the mental health program and APMHP
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Unit Manager in the assessment, planning and delivery of recovery focused nursing care of consumers on the inpatient unit
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Unit Manager to address priority issues on the inpatient unit which are related to the vulnerable and high-risk consumers presenting with complex needs.
  • Hold substantial responsibility in the implementation of clinical frameworks such as: Safewards, mental health intensive framework and reducing restrictive interventions

  • Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary health care team 
  • Adept in the provision of evidence based quality patient care 
  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills teamed with the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  •  Highly developed professional verbal, written and electronic communication skill 
  • High levels of initiative and motivation to identify opportunities for self-development, development of team members, and improving service delivery 
  • Extensive clinical experience within the area of responsibility
