Broadmeadows Aged Persons Mental Health Unit (BAPMHU)

BAPMHU is a 19 bed Inpatient Unit providing treatment as part of the Aged Persons Mental Health Program of NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH).

 

We are seeking a team oriented clinician to join our multidisciplinary setting and be a part of a brilliant team culture who have a genuine passion for clinical innovation, excellence and optimum patient care.

 

Our team has a recovery focus with clinicians working closely with older adults and their families/carers to improve their mental and physical wellbeing.  

 

Your Role:

  • Provide occupational therapy assessments and interventions to older consumers aged 65+ years during an acute phase of mental illness
  • Deliver recovery oriented, person centred support to consumers and their families/carers
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, sharing your clinical expertise of treatments and interventions in response to complex mental health needs
  • Develop and facilitate group programs and assesments and implement new initiatives within the team
  • Assist in building a positive, safe, supportive culture and environment for both consumers and members of staff.

About You:

  • Qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of persons' with mental health diagnoses
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from a range of cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to quickly adapt to inpatient environments to meet the occupational therapy needs of consumers
