Position Summary for Unaccredited Plastic Surgery Registrar
The Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unaccredited Registrar position is based at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Parkville Campus.
Applications are encouraged from suitably qualified doctors with prior Registrar experience in Plastic Surgery (including Faciomaxillary, Limb, Breast, Head and Neck reconstruction).
The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the Unit consultants, Accredited Registrars and Fellow at the Royal Melbourne Hospital department of Plastic Surgery sharing the running duties of this busy department. The successful candidate will be exposed to a broad range of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including non-elective surgery.
Key Accountabilities:
- Uphold RACS and ASPS ethics and professionalism
- Ward duty
- Inpatient management of unit patients and referrals
- Outpatient clinics
- Operating theatres
- Participate in unit academic activities and research
- Ensure all theatre lists / clinics have appropriate cover
- Attend Journal club
- Ensuring unit activities such as audits are up to date and comprehensive
Key Selection Criteria
Formal Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or post graduate Medical degree
Essential:
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong organisational skills
- Must demonstrate the potential to become a good Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
- Strategic thinking and planning abilities
- Well developed communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Proven track record in the pursuit of clinical excellence
