Our client The Royal Melbourne Hospital was Victoria's first public hospital and is now one of the largest health providers in the state, providing a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical, and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, outpatient and community programs.
An exceptional opportunity exists to join our client's legal team as Legal Counsel - Manager Medico-Legal Services and play a significant role in providing medico-legal advice and support to the hospital as well as managing the medico-legal team in meeting the legal demands of this complex organisation.
Reporting directly to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, and working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and other stakeholders across all areas of the organisation, you will be responsible for supporting the hospital through the provision of commercially astute, strategic medico-legal advice and support, as well as leadership and management services for a number of medico-legal functions within the hospital including subpoena, police and court liaison, medical negligence claims, and clinical Freedom of Information requests and issues.
Your strong technical capability is balanced by a responsive, pragmatic and service-oriented approach. You will have a proven track record in confidently interacting with a range of stakeholders as well as competently leading and managing a team. You are savvy, adaptable, outcomes-focused, detail-minded and capable of effectively communicating in a clear and succinct manner.
