NorthWestern Mental Health (NWMH) provides a comprehensive, integrated range of services to people with a serious mental illness in North-Western Melbourne. A multi-disciplinary workforce of 1,800 staff provides services through four Area Adult Mental Health Services (North West, Mid West, Inner West and Northern), an Aged Persons’ Mental Health Program and a Youth Mental Health Service – ORYGEN Youth Health. NWMH is a clinical service of Melbourne Health and operates in partnership with Northern Health and Western Health.

About the Role:
This exciting specialist role is a Department of Health initiative to improve the capacity of mental health workforce to work with consumers who have a forensic history or are at risk of offending. The successful applicant will undertake joint assessments of patients across both clinical and MHCSS services, deliver secondary consultation, education and training, and provide a key liaison function between the AMHS and correctional services system. A range of supports will be offered including a comprehensive orientation, training and supervision program, and access to knowledge and resources from the Forensic Mental Health Service

Key Accountabilities:
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, extensive clinical experience, the ability to provide advice regarding the management of complex high-risk behaviours, and interest and experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health consumers with co-existing forensic problems.
