The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our dynamic Echo team. This is a Part Time position, working 16 hours per fortnight, based at The Royal Melbourne Hospital – City Campus.


 Your Opportunity:


The Cardiology Department at the Royal Melbourne is in a growth phase with additional beds opened and a new Cath Lab forecasted within the next 12 months. The Royal Melbourne Hospital is part of the Parkville precinct and is co-located with the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. 


The Echocardiography (Echo) Department has the latest Philips and GE Echo machines with 3D capabilities.  Primary role involves scanning transthoracic Echo’s on outpatients and inpatients as well as occasional Stress Echo’s. Specialty services include Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Adult Congenital Heart Disease during Pregnancy, complex Electrophysiology and structural cardiac intervention (TAVI, Percutaneous Pulmonary Valves, and Mitral Clip). 


Physiologists at RMH are well supported with 2 Echocardiography educators onsite. We have a comprehensive Echo training program for both new trainees and those with experience wanting to expand their skills into other areas such as Adult Congenital Heart Disease.


 About You: 

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science in a relevant field and / or completion of a recognised Echo course such as DMU or QUT
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in scanning
  • Current registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)
