The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Scientist to join The Royal Melbourne Hospital, Diagnostic Haematology Laboratory – Haematology in a fixed-term capacity. As a key member of our team you must have a passion for Haematology and pride yourself on quality and service excellence in laboratory testing.

Haematology is a busy, modern laboratory performing a range of diagnostic and research investigations - for the haematology and bone marrow transplant units and many tertiary referrals.

The appointee should have previous diagnostic laboratory experience and will work as part of a committed team who share responsibility for the daily activity in this section, including the Haematology Departments 24/7 roster.



  • Relevant previous Haematology / Blood Transfusion - Laboratory experience essential for this position.
  • Blood Film Morphology training
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with other health professional.


  • Computer skills / Affiliation with a professional body (AACB, AIMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, resourceful and adaptive to change.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and the ability to facilitate Root Cause Analysis, as required.
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
