Registered Nurse – Surgical Orthopaedics and Trauma ward

About the team:

 

Ward 7 South West is a 30 bed ward caring for multi-day stay Orthopaedic and Trauma patients from both elective and emergency admissions. As a receiving ward in this busy Level 1 Adult trauma and tertiary referral centre, our patients have a high acuity level and can be complex and demanding however, with our dynamic team you will be supported in managing all injury types.

 

7 South west requires a high level of clinical expertise in general nursing and a critical thinking ability to recognise clinical changes in the deteriorating patient. You will be supported by a highly trained multidisciplinary team consisting of; medical officers, allied health and dedicated educational team to equip you with the right tools to grow your surgical nursing journey and provide the highest level of care to our patients.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Provide high quality standards of patient care. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
  • Be part of a team that prides itself on a collaborative and inclusive environment, committed to high quality evidence based patient care
  • Perform nursing interventions and procedures in accordance with Royal Melbourne Hospital policy and procedures

What you'll need to succeed: 

  • You are an AHPRA registered Nurse with ward experience and are willing to work a range of AM/PM & ND shifts, within our supportive and dedicated multidisciplinary team
  • You have effective communication skills and a passion for continued professional development
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency and clinical deteriorating patients
  • Recent clinical experience in trauma, orthopaedics, or other surgical specialities is desirable
