An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Physiotherapist to join the Acute Neurosciences Team as a Senior Physiotherapist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. 

 

The Acute Neurosciences Team provides physiotherapy care across the Neurology, Stroke and Neurosurgery units. This is a unique opportunity to provide support to the Neurosciences physiotherapy team, and more widely to allied health, in the transition to the new Acute Stroke and Neurology unit, which opened in early 2019.

 

Your Opportunity:

  • Undertake assessment, management and referral plans for patients
  • Supervision and education of junior physiotherapists
  • Ensure excellence in patient management
  • Provide evidenced based assessment and management of a wide variety of patients
  • Contribute to providing high quality patient information
  • Build relationships with patients, relatives, staff and relevant services in order to provide appropriate services and information
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Practice person centred care and contribute to decision making with patients and carers
  • Participate in the staff clinical supervision programme

About You:

  • Recognised degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Professional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Competent level of patient assessment, treatment and management in acute neurosciences physiotherapy
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication
  • Emergency and safe working practices in the hospital

The successful candidate will be involved in the delivery of clinical service, supervision and education of junior physiotherapists and undergraduate students and will be an integral member of our supportive team.
