Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Ward 9 West

  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital – Surgical Services
  • Part Time position available - 34 hours per fortnight
  • Opportunity to enhance your leadership and management skills

Ward 9 West is a 24-bed surgical ward that provides care for elective and emergency Urology, Vascular, Breast Oncology and Endocrinology (BOE) patients. Our team is committed to working collaboratively to deliver excellent patient centred care.

 

Ward 9 West is also part of the COVID-19 bed management plan. In response to increase COVID-19 community transmission, presentations and admissions to RMH, 9 West transitions to an 18 bed COVID-19 ward and cares for and manages COVID-19 patients.

 

About the Role:

  • Exciting opportunity to develop and consolidate your leadership and management skills 
  • Develop and strengthen your understanding about patient flow  
  • Work closely with 9 West key stakeholders; Bed Management and Access Coordinators, Theatre, the Emergency Department, Surgical Units and the Allied Health Department
  • Develop an understanding of roster management.
  • Contribute to meeting 9 West Key performance indicators; 10am discharges, utilisation of transit lounge and pressure injury and falls prevention
  • Opportunity to enhance your communication, problem solving and conflict resolution skills 

About You:

  • Demonstrated ability to practise collaboratively with a multidisciplinary health care team
  • Demonstrated provision of high-quality patient care
  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills
  • High motivation and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of reliability and professional conduct
  • Passion for Surgical nursing
  • Minimum 3 years acute post registration experience

Selection Criteria Essential: Minimum 3 years acute post registration experience
Desirable: Postgraduate qualification in management and/or clinical area of expertise, or working towards
