Melbourne Health is Victoria’s second largest public health service, employing over 8,900 staff and managing over 1,400 beds. We provide comprehensive acute, sub-acute, general, specialist medical and mental health services through both inpatient and community based facilities through the following services: The Royal Melbourne Hospital – City Campus, The Royal Melbourne Hospital – Royal Park Campus, North Western Mental Health, and The Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity. We provide one of the two adult major trauma services to the state of Victoria.
The Opportunity:
A rare opportunity has become available for individuals with extensive practice experience in the mental health sector to coordinate a statewide leadership project.
The VMHILP is a Victorian Department of Health and Human Service funded project.
The initial phases of the VMHILP are complete, with phase four (Sustainability and/or extension of the Victorian Mental Health Interprofessional Leadership Network) now underway.
This project aims to provide professional development and statewide networking through structured mechanisms, based on a collaborative team approach. Leadership teams consist of selected Nurse, Allied health, Medical, and lived experience staff in Victorian Government funded Mental Health Services, Forensicare, Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) and Orygen Youth Health.
The Western Victorian Mental Health Learning & Development Cluster (one of three such Clusters in Victoria) is the lead agent for the project. The Western Cluster is auspiced by, and co-located within NorthWestern Mental Health, Melbourne Health.
The Project Manager for the Victorian Mental Health Interprofessional Leadership Project will be responsible for leading and completing all relevant tasks and activities for the duration of the stated project, including: planning, documentation, stakeholder management and communication, leadership program provider procurement and/or induction program development if required, coordination of Network sustainability strategy, risk management, recording and reporting, and all other activities essential for successful project completion.

All appointments are made subject to a satisfactory police records check. Successful applicants must provide either a certified copy of a current Working with Children Check Card or evidence of having made an application for a WWC Check Card upon commencement.
Successful applicants will also be required to provide a record of Immune Status to vaccine preventable diseases or evidence of an immunisation assessment prior to commencement.
