Area Senior Nurse Consultant

 

  • Provide nursing leadership and operational support to the new projects and emerging services
  • Situated at Mid West’s Area Mental Health Service, Sunshine

The Mid West Area Mental Health Service (MWAMHS) is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence-based (EB) treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills. Staff employed within the MWAMHS are expected to identify EB practice competencies and to use these in their clinical work

 

Your new role:

 

  • Actively participate in your own practice development by engaging in available learning opportunities
  • Prepare and/or review service delivery models
  • Building strategic relationships with key stakeholders
  • Co-ordinate and deliver new quality initiatives in collaboration with consumers and carers
  • Be the driver of the development of a leading edge service model
  • Provide nursing leadership in workforce development, education and professional development

 

About you:

 

  • Extensive senior psychiatric experience (at least 5 years) in a range of settings
  • Highly developed knowledge and understanding of nursing research, service and practice development methodology
  • Capacity to support and build positive culture in the nursing workforce and develop the senior nurse workforce as leadership group
  • Proven ability to undertake quality development initiatives and education programs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Ability to represent psychiatric nursing education, training and professional development issues on Area-wide and NWMH committees
