The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) ICU has 42 physical bed spaces and currently admits over 2000 patients every year. We provide services to the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre partners, the Peter MacCallum Hospital and the Women’s hospital across the Parkville precinct.

 

We are looking for Ward Clerks to join our friendly and supportive team to provide clerical support to the ICU, as well as a professional and caring customer focused service for patients and visitors. Working within a multidisciplinary team and in liaison with a range of specialty services, you will assist with the coordination of patient admissions and discharges. In this role you will work a rotating roster including day shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

 

Your new role:

  • Be a supportive first point of contact for patients and visitors to the ICU by delivering a professional and caring customer service.
  • Ensure current patient details are accurate.
  • Undertake clerical tasks including managing patient next of kin / restricted visiting lists, answering and responding to telephone and reception enquiries, and managing electronic records relating to patient admission, transfers and discharges.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders regarding patient movement through the unit.

  • You are a great communicator with well-developed customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • You work well within a team with demonstrated initiative and ability to prioritise tasks.
  • You have relevant clerical experience and administrative skills.
  • You are flexible and able to work in a busy and changing environment.
