The Connecting Care Program and Parkville Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 

The Connecting Care EMR Program is a digital partnership between Melbourne Health (MH), The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH), Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) and the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) to transform patient care and research in the Parkville precinct.


Connecting Care will expand the cutting-edge RCH Epic EMR to operate across the four health services, creating one powerful shared clinical and research system and setting a new benchmark for EMR technology in Australia.


We are looking for multiple passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Connecting Care EMR team. This is a casual position, based at Parkville. You will be called in/rostered on an as needed basis. 


The Opportunity:

The casual Help Desk Officer acts as a single point of contact for phone calls, emails, logged requests and queries from staff regarding EMR issues. You will work in a team environment with other Help Desk Officers to complete this function in order to support the EMR application teams. You will also perform routine functions that include but are not limited to:

  • Use Service Now (Snow) to log issues and answer calls
  • Support Parkville staff by assisting in logging or resolving EMR issues
  • User and Provider maintenance
  • Printer and Workstation issues
  • Any other ad hoc activities as required

The EMR Help Desk Officer will report to the PMO Manager and Help Desk Manager.


All members of the Connecting Care EMR team will be required to work across all Parkville Health services and supply a Volunteer Working With Children Check before employment.


About You:

Candidates must be flexible with work hours and available to work on a rotating 24/7 day or night shift roster between 07/08/20 until 12/09/20. Shifts times are:

  • Morning: 07:00 - 15:30
  • Day: 15:00 - 23:30
  • Night: 23:00 - 07:30

*shift start and end time may change - you will be given notice should this occur*

  • Formal Qualifications:
    • Completion of or currently studying a degree in a relevant field such as information technology, business or health
    • Essential Experience:
      • Excellent verbal communication skills
      • Competence in MS Word, Excel
      • Attention to detail
      • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues in a team-based environment with individual and shared deliverables
      • Aptitude to learn quickly and apply knowledge across different contexts
      • Resilient and flexible approach to work
      • Highly motivated and possess a proactive approach to progressing tasks
  • Desirable Experience
    • Experience using Service Now (Snow)
    • Experience providing project administrative support, within a corporate or government environment
    • Experience working within a healthcare environment
    • Experience working in an I.T help desk support position
    • Information technology qualification
