The Royal Melbourne is one of Victoria’s largest hospitals providing a comprehensive range of health services including acute, sub-acute, general, and specialist medical services throughout inpatient and community based facilities. We are also a proud part of the world renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, working in collaboration to advance research for continuous improvement of clinical care.

 

The Melbourne Metro Rail Project proposes to increase the capacity, reliability and efficiency of the train line services to meet Melbourne’s projected growth in the North West and South East corridors. It intends to achieve this using two parallel, nine (9) kilometre rail tunnels and five (5) new underground stations to be located at North Melbourne, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain.

It is recognised that the development of the Parkville Station will have an impact on key organisations, largely health services and research institutes located within the Precinct. With shared needs across the Precinct, the successful candidate will work proactively to facilitate high quality communications and stakeholder engagement activities and be highly experienced in managing sensitive stakeholder interfaces in an issues-rich and complex environment. 

 

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Project Manager, Metro Rail Interface Project and will be based at Melbourne Health, working closely with the communications teams from the following organisations to ensure there is consistent communications delivered across the precinct including:

  • Melbourne Metro Rail Authority
  • The Royal Melbourne Hospital (part of Melbourne Health)
  • The Royal Women’s Hospital
  • The Royal Children’s Hospital
  • University High School
  • Walter and Eliza Hall Institute
  • Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

Your Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic communications professional to plan and implement stakeholder management and communication activities for Melbourne Health as part of the Melbourne Metro Interface Project Team (IPT) to support the successful delivery of Victoria’s biggest Infrastructure project, the Melbourne Metro Rail Project.

  • Responsible for  the development and delivery of communications and engagement strategies to support the development of the Parkville Station on behalf of key stakeholders across the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct. 
  • Work closely with the communication teams from organisations within the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct and the Rail Projects Victoria (RPV) technical and planning teams to build effective relationships to ensure strong communication and engagement over the life of the project

About You: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in communications and stakeholder relations
  • Highly developed negotiation skills with a proven track record in effectively managing complex and highly sensitive negotiations with multiple stakeholders, often with competing priorities and interests
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder relations and/or community engagement, issues management and communications with a demonstrated ability to prepare and implement strategies in complex and issues-rich environments.
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to produce and present high quality public information to a range of audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills with demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage tasks under pressure and to tight deadlines, provide sound options for decision-making and keep accurate records
  • Experience in a health or infrastructure delivery related sector would be highly regarded
