Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (GCCN) - Intensive Care (ICU)

Applications are now open for the ICU GCCN at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) in affiliation with the Australian Catholic University (ACU). We also offer in-house courses inclusive of the Introduction to ICU, Bridging and Refresher programs.

 

Take the next step with your nursing practice as part of Melbourne Health in a world-class teaching hospital that is one of Victoria’s largest adult trauma centres. Our state-of-the art 42 bed capacity ICU is part of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre precinct caring for patient with:

 

-          Major traumatic injuries

-          Haematological emergencies

-          Obstetric emergencies

-          Cardiothoracic surgery

-          Neurosurgery

-          Respiratory failure

-          Renal failure

-          Sepsis and multi organ failure

-          Infectious disease

 

The GCCN consists of four (4) subjects specific to the area of study undertaken. Subjects are delivered through a variety of teaching modalities including lectures, workshops, tutorials, clinical simulation, online learning and worksheets. Assessment consists of assignments, clinical hurdles and reflective practice. Our ICU education team provides support 7 days per week across both morning and afternoon shifts


Prerequisites:

 

The GCCN program is open to Registered Nurses with at least 2 years clinical experience

The Introduction to ICU program is open to Registered Nurses with at least 1 year clinical experience

 

Applications must include:

 

-          Cover letter addressed to the Nurse Unit Manager, stating the stream being applied for

-          Curriculum vitae

-          Most recent academic transcript results

-          Contact details of two senior clinical referees

 

All applications will be assessed on letter of application, curriculum vitae, academic record, clinical experience, references and interview.
