Health Assistant in Nursing (HAN)

The Rehabilitation Ward is a fast stream Rehab that specialises in neurological rehab (e.g. multiple sclerosis, developmental disabilities, strokes, tumours, head injury, spasticity management), amputee Rehabilitation, Chronic pain and orthopaedic /musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

 

The HAN is required to work under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager/ Associate Nurse Unit Manager and/or a Registered Nurse (RN) delegate at all times, within their level of education and assessed competencies and also under clearly defined role parameters.

 

While HANs work within clearly defined parameters, the role itself is often flexible and involves a mixture of direct care and other activities that support the nursing team.

 

Your new role:

  • Participate in delegated care relating to patients activities of daily living, ensuring that the personal needs, dignity, and comfort of patients are maintained
  • Gain experience working in a subacute hospital rehabilitation setting
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary health care team to achieve the desired patient outcomes
  • Monday – Sunday 7am – 3.30pm shift allowing work life balance

About You:

  • Individuals who have completed a Certificate III in Individual Support (Health Assistant)
  • Previous experience working in an acute healthcare setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Passion for career development and educational opportunities
  • Individuals who strive to provide high quality patient care
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with other staff, patients and their families.

Selection Criteria Essential: Completed a Certificate III in Individual Support or Certificate III in Health Assistance
Desirable: Previous experience in sub-acute healthcare setting.
Essential: Ability to commit to Monday - Sunday 7am - 3.30pm shifts.
